Private Health Funds:

Depending on your level of cover, Blue Mountains Nepean OT services may be able to be claimed through your private health extras.

If you are wishing to claim a rebate, please let us know when we contact you so we can include all relevant details needed on your receipt. You can then lodge a claim online or in person with your private health insurance provider.

Private health rebate amounts differ depending on what kind of coverage you have. There are annual limits you may also like to check. You can contact your insurance provider to see how much you will get back for OT services by quoting one of the below codes:

  • 100 – Occupational Therapy Initial Consultation

  • 250 – Occupational Therapy session

Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan:

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate when accessing Occupational Therapy services (Item No. 10958). This includes Telehealth services also.

The Medicare rebate amount is $58.30. Rebate benefits will be higher once you reach the SafetyNet Cap.

If you have:

  • a chronic condition (a medical condition that has or will be present for more than 6 months)

and

  • complex care needs ( requiring ongoing care from your GP and other health care providers),

you can get a Medicare Plan/Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP in order to claim the rebate. The Medicare rebate is available for 5 sessions each calendar year. You will need to get your GP to make a referral to Blue Mountains Nepean OT prior to commencing your service with us.

Please note the rebate amount does not cover the full OT fee, so there will be an out of pocket amount that we can confirm with you prior to service.

Department of Veterans Affairs:

If you hold a DVA gold or white card and have an assessed need, you may be entitled to receive free Occupational therapy services.

You may also be entitled to aids and appliances as prescribed by one of our Occupational Therapists to help you remain independent in your home. There is no fee charged to you as DVA will cover the cost.

Equipment available includes:

  • Assistive aids such as wheeled walkers

  • Hospital beds

  • Specialist chairs

  • Lifting hoists

  • Showering and toileting aids

  • Pressure care needs

  • Powered & manual wheelchairs & mobility scooters

  • Personal hygiene aids (including continence products & bidets)

  • Therapeutic aids (including compression stockings and upper limb/hand therapy products)

  • Home modifications including hand rails, modifications to bathrooms, toilets and home entrances to provide safe and suitable access

Your GP can make a direct referral to Blue Mountains Nepean OT. We can also accept referrals from hospital discharge planners, Local Medical officers, and allied health professionals.
